Tenuous Love

We were roses and thorns,

Love with adversity.

Tired and forlorn,

Drifting away with a strange tenacity.

Birds of a feather,

Yet we didn’t stay together.

Our love blossomed and bloomed,

But was met with doom,

And only now I can hear the matchbreaker’s tune.

We were together like bricks in the wall,

Only for us to crumble and fall.

Our love is lost,

It was edged with frost,

And nothing can repair the happiness it cost.
